Finally, Ariège should resolve to follow immigration law. If the PS president of this department judges the law “abject,” she intends to apply it, unlike other departments led by the left, she said on Friday. “I will apply the law, we are in a state of law,” declared Christine Téqui, while Ariège appeared on the list distributed on Wednesday with the press release from 32 departments refusing “the application of the component concerning personalized allocation of autonomy (APA) of this law inspired by the extreme right”.

“I consider this law to be despicable. But it was the motion to reject that led to this situation. If we avoid this point, we ignore the responsibilities: of the Senate with its vote, and of the parliamentarians who, thinking of turning the table, vote on a motion of rejection and leave a royal path to the RN, she continued. Due to this lack of foresight and discernment on the part of these parliamentarians, we have not been able to debate education, insertion, integration, professional training, popular education, apprenticeship… Social issues that we cannot rule out. »

Open crisis within the presidential majority

On Thursday, the president of Departments of France, François Sauvadet (UDI), affirmed that the Immigration law should be “applied with strict respect for republican institutions”.

Definitively adopted by Parliament on Tuesday, the immigration bill was the subject of a rejection motion voted by deputies from all oppositions, then by a Joint Joint Commission (CMP) of seven deputies and seven senators aiming to find a compromise between the National Assembly and the Senate, where the Republicans are in a position of strength.

The adoption of this text from the CMP (voted by the National Rally which saw it as a consecration of the “national priority” which it defends) caused an open crisis within the presidential majority. In an interview on France 5 on Wednesday, the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron declared that he “supported” the adoption of the bill, denying any far-right inspiration. The text must now pass through the filter of the Constitutional Council before the law is promulgated.
