The number of new luxury cars purchased in Russia last year decreased by 16% compared to 2020 to 931 units, according to a study by the Avtostat analytical agency, based on data from the Electronic Passport company (created in the structure of Rostec Group of Companies) .

The largest share – 35% – of luxury cars purchased in 2021 fell on Bentley: Russians purchased 326 of them – 9% more than in 2020. Of these, the Bentayga model was in the highest demand: citizens bought 192 of these SUVs.

Rolls-Royce became the next most popular brand. Over the past year, 261 cars of this brand were bought in Russia – 31% more than in the previous period. In the overall structure of luxury vehicles, Rolls-Royce accounted for 28%.

About 19% more for Lamborghini. In 2021, 174 such cars were bought in Russia, which is a quarter more than in 2020.

At the same time, sales of the Mercedes-Benz Maybach S-Class fell by 83% – to 66 units, and Maserati – by 90% (to five units). Ferrari sales increased by 90%, and Aston Martin – by 4.9 times (up to 55 and 44 units, respectively).

Earlier, the Association of European Businesses reported that in 2021, 1.67 million new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles were sold in Russia. In annual terms, the indicator increased by 4.3%. At the same time, in January 2022, sales fell by 3.7% to 91,662 units.

Today, VTB reported that the top 5 car brands for which Russians most often take loans included Lada, Kia, Hyundai, Nissan and Volkswagen. A year earlier, the latter occupied the fourth position, and Skoda was in fifth place.
