Autotox is partnering with Japanese electronics giant Murata to save lives on the roads

by time news

The Autotalks company from Kfar Neter, a world leader in V2X (Vehicle to Everything) communication solutions, announced today a cooperation agreement with the Japanese electronics giant Murata Manufacturing) designed to save lives on the roads through breakthrough technology. Over the past five years, Morata has developed a V2X module, with the Autotox chipset at its heart, and it is currently the most mature of its kind and is ready for serial production. The production of the first units has already started and serial production will begin in early 2023.

The Japanese Murata is a leading global manufacturer of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi modules, DC-DC converters and AC-DC power supplies. Murata’s revenues in the fiscal year ending March 2022 amounted to approximately 1.81 trillion Japanese yen and it employs over 76,000 people.

Murata’s module, which has Autotox’s chip array at its heart, was recently selected for serial production by a Chinese car manufacturer with extensive business operations in Europe. At the beginning of 2024, cars equipped with the new V2X module will hit the roads of China and Europe. Beyond its high performance, the new module guarantees long-term durability even in the most challenging environmental conditions.

The new module adds new capabilities to the vehicle, among them: a V2V (Vehicle to Vehicle) alert that enables early detection of danger from a hidden vehicle and upon detection, the system activates the brakes to avoid a collision.

The module also provides V2I (Vehicle to Infrastructure) alerts by communicating between the module and roadside infrastructure devices, allowing the driver to adjust the speed to the traffic lights. This function saves battery usage in the electric vehicle or improves fuel consumption in a gasoline vehicle. Other additional capabilities include preventing accidents at intersections, protecting two-wheeled vehicles, responding to accidents, updates on road conditions, and more.

Autotox’s V2X technology supports both DSRC and C-V2X communication standards – thus it allows customers to operate in different regions of the world (such as Europe, China, North America, etc.) – through a single identical module in which a simple software configuration is performed. The system designs do not change, so the engineering costs are reduced.

Ram Shalom, VP of Business Development and Marketing for the Asia-Pacific region at Autotalks, said: “We are proud to collaborate with Murata to bring mature and high-performance V2X solutions to the market. The official launch of Morata’s V2X product line is a significant milestone that is the result of five years of joint development, validation, comprehensive testing and design optimization. Murata’s rich selection of V2X technology modules will help customers in the automotive industry accelerate the commercialization of their V2X products. We anticipate that the cooperation will yield additional wins in serial production projects of leading car manufacturers.”

Autotox helps reduce traffic accidents and improve traffic flow through chip arrays. Autotox’s V2X chip is the only in-vehicle sensor capable of providing information about hidden vehicles or other road users, even in harsh weather or poor lighting conditions. The technology significantly improves overall safety on the road by linking regular vehicles, autonomous cars, motorcycles and pedestrians. Autotox, which currently works with 8 vehicle manufacturers (OEMs), has doubled its order backlog to $200 million in the past year. Autotox has raised since its inception More than 150 million dollars. The company employs about 120 employees in Israel, Japan, Korea, Germany and France, and is currently recruiting additional employees.
