In the coming months, the first 150 communication units will be installed on the highway. Thousands more units are slated to be deployed in the near future. They will provide drivers with a digital alert one kilometer before the actual work zone

Autotalks from Kfar Neter signed an agreement for cooperation with a company Afusoft The German one, within the framework of which the first V2X system in Germany will be implemented in the federal autobahn network (Autobahn) and other roads. The purpose of the project is to improve the comfort and safety of driving on the roads. Afusoft was established in 2002 and specializes in communication, navigation and security technologies. Among its clients: shipping companies, road maintenance and construction management departments, firefighting units, emergency services and more.

As part of the collaboration, Autotox’s V2X chips will be embedded in Afusoft’s Roadside Communication Units (RSUs). Today, 2,000 units are already deployed in cities and on roads in Germany. In the coming months, the first 150 units will be installed on the Autobahn, and thousands more units are planned to be deployed in the near future. Until now, when drivers approached the area where road works were being carried out, the traffic was directed to another lane using lighted arrows installed on service vehicles. The communication units and autotox chips will provide drivers will receive a digital alert one kilometer before the actual work zone. The technology can prevent accidents, especially in difficult weather conditions and fast moving vehicles.

In addition, the cooperation will make it possible to send alerts related to firefighting vehicles. The emergency vehicle will be able to send the communication unit a request for priority on the road as it approaches the intersection and the system will allow it to cross the intersection with a green light without any delay. Hagai Ziss, CEO of Autotalks, said that for the company this is a historic milestone, which comes after several years of cooperation between the two companies: “Choosing us as V2X providers in the first devices of connected transportation on Germany’s highways is a significant step towards wide deployment.”

Autotox’s V2X chip is the only in-vehicle sensor capable of providing information about hidden vehicles or other road users, even in poor weather and lighting conditions. Autotox currently works with 8 car manufacturers (OEMs). In the last year, it increased its order backlog to about 200 million dollars. Since its establishment, Autotox has raised about 150 million dollars and employs about 120 people in Israel, Japan, Korea, Germany and France. These days she is recruiting more employees.
