Over the past ten days of October in the Brest region, two people died as a result of road accidents, and five were seriously injured, including one child.

On the afternoon of October 21, in the Ivatsevichi district, a 33-year-old driver of a Ford car, driving along the M11 highway, lost control, drove into a ditch and hit a roadside tree. As a result of the accident, two passengers suffered serious injuries. It was established that the man was driving the car while intoxicated.

On the evening of October 22, in the Baranovichi district, a 63-year-old man, driving a MAZ truck, on the P-99 highway ran into a 73-year-old pensioner lying on the roadway, who died on the spot from his injuries.

In the Kobrin district on the evening of October 25, two traffic accidents occurred. At about 7 p.m., a 49-year-old driver of a Volkswagen car, while climbing an overpass across the M1 highway, hit a 40-year-old woman who was crossing the roadway in the wrong place. As a result of the collision, the victim was thrown into the adjacent lane, where she was hit by an Audi driven by a 35-year-old man. The woman soon died from her injuries in hospital.

At about 20:00 on the M1 highway, a 55-year-old driver of a MAZ truck tractor collided with a Renault car parked at the right edge of the roadway. As a result of the accident, the female driver of the foreign car and her 3-year-old daughter suffered bodily injuries.

For all the facts of the accident, criminal cases have been initiated under Article 317 (violation of traffic rules by a person driving a vehicle, resulting through negligence in the death of a person or the infliction of grievous bodily harm) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.

It was established that the accidents occurred at night or in conditions of limited visibility caused by weather conditions. The road situation was complicated by rain and wet roads, which increased the braking distance of the car.

When choosing a driving speed, the driver must take into account weather and road conditions, traffic intensity, road visibility, features and condition of the vehicle. If a danger to traffic arises, the driver is obliged to immediately take measures to reduce the speed, even stopping the vehicle.

Every accident can have tragic consequences, so it is necessary to take a responsible approach to road safety. Be vigilant, follow the traffic rules and remember that road safety is the business of each of us.
