A portable charger that a dog had been chewing on exploded in a home in the United States, burning down the entire house.
The Tulsa Fire Department in Oklahoma, USA, posted a video on Facebook on the 5th (local time) about the ‘lithium-ion auxiliary battery issue’ and urged caution.
This happened last May. A fire broke out in a house in the area, and fire trucks were dispatched. The fire eventually burned down the house’s interior structure and furniture before being extinguished.
The culprit of the fire was a pet dog. CCTV footage from inside the house before the fire showed two dogs and a cat playing in the living room, where the owners were not present.
One of the dogs bit the auxiliary battery on the mattress. The battery exploded and the mattress caught fire. The fire quickly spread throughout the living room. The startled animals ran around the living room.
The home sustained significant damage, but the cats and dogs escaped unharmed, the Tulsa Fire Department reported.
“You may have items in your home that could cause disaster if not handled properly,” the fire department said. “We urge the public to be aware of the safe storage and proper disposal of potentially hazardous batteries.”
