NXT General Manager Ava has announced that her time with WWE has come to an end.

Ava, 24, confirmed her departure from the company via Instagram, concluding her run with the wrestling organization. Known to fans as Simone Johnson, she’s been a prominent figure on NXT television, most recently as the brand’s on-screen General Manager.

A Wrestling Dynasty Continues to Evolve

Ava is the daughter of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and signed with WWE in February 2020. She began training at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, and made history as the first fourth-generation wrestler signed by the company, following in the footsteps of her father, grandfather Rocky Johnson, and great-grandfather High Chief Peter Maivia.

Her first televised appearance came on the October 25, 2022, episode of WWE NXT, where she was introduced as a member of The Schism alongside Joe Gacy. Performing under the name Ava Raine, later shortened to Ava, she primarily functioned as a manager and valet for the group.

Ava made her in-ring debut at NXT Stand and Deliver on April 1, 2023, participating in an eight-person tag team match where The Schism battled Chase University.

Following The Schism’s disbandment later in 2023, Ava transitioned away from active competition and assumed an authority role on screen. She initially served as an assistant to Shawn Michaels, who oversees NXT creative.

Youngest GM in WWE History

On January 23, 2024, Ava was officially named the General Manager of NXT. At just 22 years old, this appointment cemented her place in WWE history as the youngest General Manager ever. In this role, she oversaw the day-to-day operations of the brand and contributed to significant storyline decisions.

One of her most notable achievements as GM occurred at NXT Stand and Deliver in April 2024, when she introduced the NXT Women’s North American Championship, adding a new singles title to the women’s division. Ava continued in the role until today’s announcement of her departure.
