During the Xiaomi international event in Barcelona, February 26, Xiaomi unveiled its latest high-end smartphones including the Xiaomi 13, Xiaomi 13 Pro, both models are equipped with Leica optical lenses, with whom Xiaomi has collaborated on this new range. The smartphones also incorporate the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip which guarantees good performance.
What are the differences between the Xiaomi 13 and the Xiaomi 13 Pro?
The Xiaomi 13 has a 6.36 inch OLED flat screen with 1.61 mm thick bezels and a width of 71.5 mm while the Pro version has a 6.73 inch screen, the design of the screens is also different, the version standard features a straight frame and the Pro version features a hyperboloid design.
Both Xiaomi 13 are equipped with the Android 13 operating system and IP68 protection. The refresh rate of the Xiaomi 13 is 120 fixed, on the other hand, the Pro including HTPO technology has a refresh rate ranging from 1 to 120 Hz. The Xiaomi 13 is equipped with a Full HD display (1080p) and the Xiaomi 13 Pro with a Quad HD (2K) screen.
Both versions feature a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip that vastly improves GPU performance by 42% and 49% over those of the previous generation. The Xiaomi 13 Pro is heavier and sturdier than the standard model.
Performance
The first novelty concerning the Xiaomi 13 is in terms of its power. It is important for a manufacturer to offer a more powerful version each year than its previous smartphone, and Xiaomi is no exception. The firm has equipped the two Xiaomi 13 with a latest generation processor. That’s good, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip is equipped on the new Xiaomi 13, or at least the basic and Pro versions.
In particular, there is a change in the design of the Xiaomi 13. The front of the phone is very flat with a 2.5D screen with a 1.5K definition (2712 x 1220 pixels). The 32MP selfie camera sits in the center of the front screen. The edges of the phone have also been flattened. Unlike the iPhone, the rear glass includes a slight curve around the edges, designed to make it easier to grip. The dimensions of the phone are 152.8 x 71.5 x 8.3mm and the camera bump constitutes 10.3mm thick.
Xiaomi is still one of the kings in a very specific segment: charging. The Xiaomi 13 are compatible with 120W fast charging. They follow in the footsteps of the previous Xiaomi 12 Pro which was able to fully recharge in just twenty minutes. The smartphone also incorporates support for Wifi 7 and the Qualcomm® FastConnect M 7800 mobile connectivity system that enables high-speed connectivity and large network capacity. The 4500mAh battery allows smartphones to last all day as well as ultra-fast charging. Xiaomi confirms that its smartphones are able to charge 100% in just 19 minutes.
Camera
The Xiaomi 13 Pro relies heavily on the photo part by equipping itself with no less than three sensors. The camera system consists of a 23mm wide-angle main lens with a 1-inch ultra-wide IMX 989 sensor, a 75mm telephoto lens as well as a 14mm ultra-wide angle. It guarantees colorful images and distinguished contrast, defined textures. The main lens system built into the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro provides ample focal length, depth of field to maintain sharp images and well-detailed portraits. Both smartphones allow manual adjustment of shooting parameters that allow excellent image optimization.
