BOLZANO. A fire following an explosion broke out in the late afternoon today (October 14) in a 5-star hotel in Avelengo, the Mirabell hotel.
Nine people were injured, two suffered severe burns and were flown by helicopter to hospital. Other guests were evacuated.
A hundred firefighters intervened to put out the flames. The White Cross, the police and the civil protection helicopter are also on site.
The fire developed after 6pm in a hotel room. When the intervention teams arrived, the flames were already exiting the building. The extinguishing works were challenging but the Fire Brigade was able to prevent the spread of the flames.

Some hotel guests have been evacuated to allow for the fire extinguishing operations.
The police are investigating the causes of the explosion.
