Avian Flu Outbreak Detected in Portuguese Beaches: Health Risks for Beachgoers

by time news

Several cases of birds infected with avian flu have been detected in recent days at Portuguese beaches.

The birds, namely seagulls, were found dead on Deserta Island (Faro), in Olhos de Água (Albufeira), and in Gafanha da Nazaré (Ílhavo).

Analyses conducted showed the presence of high levels of avian flu, which can be transmitted to humans, according to the Correio da Manhã.

Due to the heat and considering that the beaches are frequented by thousands of people, the risk of potential contagion is high.
