The circumstances of the tragedy are still very vague for the investigators. A man and a woman were wounded by bullets on Saturday evening on a ring road in Avignon, in the Vaucluse, the prosecution announced on Sunday. The male victim would be between 20 and 30 years old and was hit by “seven or eight” bullets, his vital prognosis is engaged.

The young woman present with him, in her twenties, received a projectile in the shoulder, explained the Avignon prosecutor’s office. The incident occurred while the victims’ car was stationary. Both victims were taken to hospital, emergency services said. They were injured in their vehicle, on the Charles de Gaulle bypass, around 11 p.m. on Saturday evening, sources close to the investigation said, confirming initial information from the regional daily La Provence.

“The first scenario considered” is that the two victims were stopped at a red light. The shots came from another vehicle which was parked at its height, still according to the prosecution, which specifies that the exact scenario of the facts is still uncertain. According to a source close to the investigation, the place is not associated with drug sales outlets and it is “too early” to determine the reasons for this gunshot attack. The judicial police have been seized of the investigation.
