Manufacturer AVM has introduced the FritzBox 4050. The WLAN router can handle all modems and uses the fast Wi-Fi 6 standard.
With the FritzBox 4050, AVM has introduced a new router for the home network. Like the other models in the 4000 series, the device does not have its own modem.
This makes the FritzBox 4050 interesting for users who, for example, have received a modem without WLAN functionality from their Internet provider. With the device from the manufacturer AVM, the signal can then be distributed wirelessly throughout the house or apartment.
According to the manufacturer, users can operate the FritzBox with any fiber optic, cable or DSL modem. Alternatively, an Internet connection for the home network can also be established using LTE and UMTS sticks.
The new FritzBox also has an integrated DECT base, to which its owners can register up to six cordless telephones. An integrated answering machine stores voice messages and sends them to the user by email if desired. An analog telephone can be connected via the Fon connection on the back of the router.
Devices can also be connected via LAN. The FritzBox 4050 has three Gigabit LAN ports on the back for game consoles, televisions and printers.
The firewall, filter functions and encryption for DECT and WLAN preset by AVM are designed to ensure a secure connection. The device also offers the option of creating a separate Internet connection for guests.
Despite the new and super-fast Wi-Fi 7, Wi-Fi 6 is still the current WLAN standard, it can also be found under the term 802.11ax. Like the previous standards, Wi-Fi 6 is backwards compatible.
This means that users with an older notebook with Wi-Fi 4 (n-WLAN) can easily access the Internet via a Wi-Fi 6 router.
