Chinese premium electric cars Zeekr will begin to be sold in Russia in October, the Avtodom company reported. writes TASS.
Three models – Zeekr X, Zeekr 001 and Zeekr 009 – will be presented in dealer showrooms, the cost of the cars starts from 6 million rubles.
The Zeekr X crossover has rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive with an electric motor producing 272 and 428 horsepower, respectively, with a range of 560 km. The Zeekr 001 model is presented in three versions, including FR – four motors, one per wheel. Zeekr 009 is an all-wheel drive minivan that accelerates to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds.
The Chinese brand Zeekr is owned by Geely. According to analysts, in Russia in the first half of 2023, three Chinese car brands – Chery Automobile, Zhejiang Geely Holding Group and Great Wall Motor – accounted for a third of all sales of new passenger cars. Geely sales over the past six months have increased (according to Avtostat) almost fourfold to 32,681 units.
As Sergei Lukonin, head of the Chinese economics and politics sector at the Center for Asia-Pacific Studies at IMEMO RAS, said in an interview with Vedomosti, the Russian market is very important for China, as this is the first example of large-scale expansion of Chinese automakers outside their country. He noted that Chinese cars are already closer to European brands.
