AvtoVAZ may return to the European market, which it left in the spring of 2019, with a new generation Lada Niva SUV. On July 26, the president of AvtoVAZ, Nicolas More, told the Expert magazine about this.
“If we ever return to the European market, it will be a special car like the Niva. We are watching with interest how some independent companies are trying to sell a Niva car in the UK, Germany, Slovakia. This is good news and means that the name Niva still means something to European buyers, ”said Nicolas Maure.
The new generation of the Russian Lada Niva SUV will appear on the market in 2024.
Presumably, the car will receive high ground clearance and a full-fledged all-wheel drive system with a downshift range.
The new Lada Niva will be comparable to the five-door version of the current SUV. The length will be 4280 mm (40 mm more than the five-door Niva Legend). The wheelbase of the model is 2600 mm.
The car will receive a 1.8-liter gasoline engine with 122 hp, as well as a turbocharged 1.3-liter Renault unit.
On July 12, it was reported that in Togliatti, on the territory of the scientific and technical center (STC) of AvtoVAZ, a camouflaged unknown car was photographed.
The car was transported on a trailer in a special tight cover. The model cannot be identified.
