AvtoVAZ has begun a cycle of testing the Lada e-Largus electric car, the press service of the Russian concern said. Pilot production of the electric car will begin at the plant in Izhevsk at the end of 2023. Today, on December 26, a prototype of the LADA e-Largus electric car was presented in Izhevsk.

The AvtoVAZ press release says that Lada e-Largus will be produced in a passenger version and a commercial van version. “Unlike all new SKD projects presented in Russia in recent months, the share of using components from Russian suppliers at the time of production start will be at least 50% (or 3600 points),” the report says. Now the prototypes of Lada e-Largus have begun a cycle of road and laboratory tests.

According to Maxim Sokolov, General Director of AvtoVAZ, the car will allow loading the production capacities of the LADA Izhevsk plant, developing Russian engineering competencies, and also producing a “truly Russian electric car”.

At the presentation of the car, the head of Udmurtia, Alexander Brechalov, announced the creation of an industrial park on the territory of the car factory in Izhevsk with a total production area of ​​​​300,000 square meters. m.

According to him, in the coming years, attention will be paid to the development of charging infrastructure in Udmurtia. Now more than 140 electric vehicles are officially registered in the republic. There are 13 electric charging stations, the number of which is planned to be increased to at least 40.

On December 21, Sokolov announced that the former Nissan car plant in St. Petersburg would become a site for the production of Lada cars. In November, 100% of Nissan’s assets in Russia, Nissan Manufacturing Rus, including the plant in St. Petersburg, were transferred to the Scientific Research Automobile and Automotive Institute (NAMI), subordinate to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
