The AvtoVAZ concern is resuming production of the Niva Legend three-door SUV, the company’s press service reports.
“The first will be the Classic’22 version, designed to ensure the maximum possible localization of the car, eliminating the impact of a shortage of imported components,” the report says. The company noted that the cost of this SUV model will be announced later.
The SUV will be equipped with power steering, power windows for the front doors, ISOFIX child seat mounts, daytime running lights, an on-board computer, stamp-welded 16-inch wheels, steel crankcase, and audio preparation.
The head of AvtoVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, said earlier that the updated Lada Niva would be 95% import substituted. By the end of summer, AvtoVAZ is expected to produce three models: Niva Legend, Niva Travel, Lada Granta Classic 2022.
The concern also resumed production of Lada Granta Cross. The cost of the car starts at 722,300 rubles. According to car dealers, the car will be sold in two trim levels. One of them is without airbags and power windows.
AvtoVAZ previously introduced a four-day period from June 6 to September 4, and then extended it until November 6. Two lines of the company’s plant in Togliatti are idle – only the “thread” for assembling Lada Granta is working. In July, it is planned to launch another line, which will collect Lada Niva Travel. The production of Lada Vesta in Izhevsk has not yet been restarted.
