Tencent and TiMi Studio Group announced that
Metal Slug: Awakening
will be released on PS5 and PS4 in the course of 2022. The game already came out in beta for smartphones last year, but only in China, and it is the reinterpretation of the historic horizontal scrolling shooter first published on Neo Geo in 1996. Previously known as Metal Slug Code: Jthe game is the first direct sequel to the series since 2010, when it was released on PSP Metal Slug XXin turn taken from Metal Slug 7 2008 on Nintendo DS. Metal Slug: Awakening incorporates in all respects the classic mechanics of the series and the first trailer of the console version shows improved graphics compared to the iOS and Android versions.
At the moment four playable characters are confirmed, all well-known faces of the saga: the Italian Fiolina Germi, the Italian-American Marco Rossi, and the two Japanese Eri Kasamoto and Tarma Roving. In the purest Tencent Games style too Metal Slug: Awakening
it will be free-to-play, therefore free to play with elements to unlock for a fee. Tencent and TiMi have declared that new details on the game are coming, so we just have to wait for the announcement on the release date of the final version on mobile and that for the PlayStation console.
