Award winning Tamil films at the International Film Festival!

The Chennai International Film Festival has been held annually since 2003 on behalf of the Indo Appreciation Foundation. The festival annually presents awards to the best artists and best works in the field of cinema. The 19th Chennai International Film Festival started on the 30th and ended yesterday (6.1.2022). More than 100 films from 53 countries were screened.

At the festival, 11 films including Karnan, Then, Chethuman, Siblings, Sivaranjini and some other women, Rame Andalum Ravane Andalum and Mara were shortlisted for the Best Picture category in the Tamil category. The first prize for the best film was given to Shivarajini and some other women. Also, a prize of Rs. 3 lakh was given. Both the films Honey and Sethuman were selected for the second prize and Rs.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was also presented to Senior Director Singitam Siniwasara and the Amitabh Bachchan Youth Icon Award to singer Sid Sriram. Also, Lakshmi Priya, who starred in ‘Sivaranjini and Some More Women’, was awarded the Special Jury Award.
