The Varushanadu Shivanadi team has been providing seed balls to devotees going to Chaturagiri in Theni district Varushanadu and highlighting its benefits, raising tree saplings and creating awareness among the devotees and the general public about the benefits of creating forests.

Lakhs of devotees from Madurai, Dindigul, Theni, Virudhunagar, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Pondicherry and abroad visit the Chathuragiri Sundaramakalingam temple in Virudhunagar district on the occasion of the new moon day. Chathuragiri Sundaramakalingam temple is located at a distance of 17 km through the mountain pass from the temple of Theni district. Due to this, pilgrims from outside will choose this route. The forest department sometimes denies permission to the devotees due to the forest flood. Then there is security and dispatch. In this case, the district Shivanadiyars – Annadhana team have been giving seed balls to various devotees who go here for many years and creating more awareness about forest cultivation.

Awareness for devotees
Arunpandi, SI, Varushanadu: Trees continue to provide oxygen even after the lifetime of man. But instead of raising the saplings that develop into such trees, the forests continue to be destroyed by felling the densely grown trees. This is a great gesture that we are doing for the future generations. So every year we provide seed balls to every devotee who comes to have darshan of Sundara and Chandana Mahalinga Swamies in Chaturagiri. While they are walking on the mountain path, they are being given alms to the hungry by a group of Sivanadiyars. In collaboration with them, we are making seed balls made of tree seeds with the help of small business companies and informing the devotees and the public about how to properly throw them into the forest.’ said.

Increase in forest
Jaikumar, SI, Kadamalaikundu Police Station, Theni: “Every year the police are engaged for the protection of the devotees. A group of Sivanadiyars advised us to give seed balls containing various types of tree seeds to the devotees every year. This has been going on for the past 3 years. Thus the forest will increase as the devotees will take it safely and lead it into the forest. Thus, we are satisfied that we have done our best to create forests. Inspector, S.B., in the order, we are going to create awareness among the devotees every year in collaboration with the forest department.”, he said.
