This Wednesday, São Paulo was defeated 2-0 by Goiás, at the Hailé Pinheiro Stadium, in Goiânia, in the 27th round of the Brazilian Championship.

In the first half, the game started balanced. However, in the 10th minute, Goiás opened the scoring with a strong shot from a corner. After the goal, the opposing team closed down, leaving the match tense and with a lot of foul play.

Tricolor’s best chance in the first half came in the 40th minute, when Luciano received it from Nestor at the edge of the area. The number 10’s shot, however, went over the goal.

In first-half stoppage time, Goiás found a counterattack and scored the second goal. São Paulo dominated possession of the ball and still pressed, but with no success in finishing, they went into the break at a disadvantage.

For the second half, Dorival Júnior made changes and Erison presented danger twice: in the 3rd minute, with a crossed shot, and in the 9th minute, when he came very close to taking advantage of a cross from Nestor, but the ball was too strong.

At 40, Goiás still scared the corner with a header against the crossbar. São Paulo had one last good opportunity at 47, with Erison, but the Goiás goalkeeper passed it to the baseline.

With the result, São Paulo continues with 35 points and ends the round in 11th place in the competition. Tricolor returns to the field for the Brazilian Championship this Saturday (21), to face Grêmio, at 6:30 pm, in Morumbi.
