The centerpiece of this week’s updates is the introduction of Claude Mythos, a specialized model class from Anthropic designed specifically for the high-stakes domain of cybersecurity. By moving beyond general reasoning and into deep codebase analysis and vulnerability identification, AWS is positioning Bedrock as a critical tool for infrastructure defense rather than just a productivity booster.

For those of us who have transitioned from writing code to reporting on it, the move toward “Agentic AI”—where AI doesn’t just suggest text but executes complex tasks—is the current frontier. However, the industry has hit a wall regarding governance. When an organization deploys dozens of specialized agents, the risk of duplication and “shadow AI” increases. AWS is addressing this through fresh discovery tools and a more granular approach to billing, ensuring that the transition from a prototype to a production-grade AI-Driven Development Lifecycle (AI-DLC) is financially sustainable.

Cybersecurity Intelligence via Project Glasswing

The arrival of the Claude Mythos Preview on Amazon Bedrock marks a significant pivot toward domain-specific AI. Available as a gated research preview through Project Glasswing, Claude Mythos is engineered to analyze massive codebases to identify sophisticated security vulnerabilities that often evade standard automated scanners.

Unlike general-purpose LLMs, this model class focuses on complex reasoning tasks specifically tailored for security audits. The goal is to allow security teams to proactively address vulnerabilities in critical software before they can be exploited by external threats. Because of the sensitivity of these capabilities, access is currently restricted to allowlisted organizations. AWS and Anthropic are prioritizing open-source maintainers and companies deemed “internet critical” to ensure the model’s capabilities are used to harden the global digital ecosystem.

Governing the Agentic Shift

As enterprises move toward deploying autonomous agents, the challenge shifts from “how do we build an agent” to “how do we manage a thousand agents.” To solve this, AWS has launched the Agent Registry in preview via Amazon Bedrock AgentCore.

The Agent Registry serves as a private, centralized catalog where organizations can discover and manage AI agents, tools, skills, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers. By implementing semantic and keyword search, the registry prevents teams from wasting resources by duplicating capabilities that already exist elsewhere in the company. The system integrates with CloudTrail for audit trails and includes approval workflows, providing the governance required for regulated industries.

The registry is designed to be accessible where developers already work, offering integration via the AgentCore Console, AWS CLI, and SDKs, and functioning as an MCP server that can be queried directly from integrated development environments (IDEs).

For teams running tools like Claude Code on Amazon Bedrock, this provides a clear line of sight into exactly which department or user is driving model inference costs, turning AI investment from a speculative expense into a manageable operational cost.

Infrastructure Evolution: S3 Files and Quantum Computing

Beyond the AI layer, AWS is introducing fundamental changes to how data is accessed and processed. The launch of Amazon S3 Files effectively transforms S3 buckets into shared file systems. Built on Amazon EFS technology, this allows compute resources to connect directly to S3 data with full file system semantics and low-latency performance.

The technical advantage here is the ability to access data via both file system and S3 APIs simultaneously. With aggregate read throughput reaching multiple terabytes per second, this removes the need for complex data migrations or code modifications when moving between object storage and file-based workflows.

In the realm of high-performance computing, Amazon Braket has expanded its quantum capabilities by adding support for Rigetti’s 108-qubit Cepheus QPU. As the first 100+ qubit superconducting quantum processor on the platform, the Cepheus-1-108Q uses a modular design of twelve 9-qubit chiplets. This architecture is designed to enhance resilience to phase errors, providing researchers with pulse-level control through frameworks like Qiskit, CUDA-Q, and the Braket SDK.
