Last weekend, the first Torah book in history dedicated to the treatment of children with cancer was introduced. The book was donated to Rahashi Lev, and after its writing, it was introduced in a ceremony with many participants, including the children and their families alongside the Chief Rabbi of Israel, David Lau, and the CEO of Sheba Tel Hashomer Medical Center, Dr. Yitzhak Kreis.

The special Torah book was donated by my friends Rahashi Lev from the USA, Mr. Steve and Mrs. Marnie Grossman from New Jersey, and Mr. David Parkash from Monsey.

Rahashi Lev organization – a national support center for children with cancer, was established 33 years ago in order to alleviate the suffering experienced by children with cancer and their families, to give them the strength to deal with cancer and the treatments associated with it, and to help them continue to smile and be happy even during the illness.

Rahashi Lev maintains a non-stop blessed activity, and operates an array of volunteers in homes for children with cancer all over the country, a special activity is carried out in the oncology departments of Sheba-Tel Hashomer Hospital and Dana Hospital in Ichilov, an activity which is accompanied by senior doctors, a professional team and an array of volunteers at all hours of the day.

Dozens of children with cancer came down from the oncology wards to Beit Rahashi Lev, and danced with great excitement to the sound of singing and music. The joy and dancing throughout the Sheba Medical Center in Vacha Beit Rahashi Lev shed tears of prayer and excitement among the children, family members and medical staff. The sight of doctors and children dancing next to the Torah book out of a prayer for their health and for their quick return home healthy, happy and happy – did not leave anyone indifferent.

The Commissioner of Police, RN Kobi Shabtai made a dream come true for 8-year-old Ayala who told the commissioner about her battle with cancer for the second time alongside her mother who also fought cancer, Shabtai hugged her and promised to dance with her again at her Bat Mitzvah.

Reuven Gescheid, chairman and founder of the Rahshi Lev organization: “This is undoubtedly a moment of power, holiness, prayer and hope that this Torah scroll will bless those children with the blessing of recompense after they finish the war for their lives. These children will recover with God’s help and will be able to return to their homes, to their family, parents, siblings, to school and to the routine of life after they have fulfilled their life’s wish.”

The CEO of the Sheba Medical Center, Prof. Yitzhak Kreis, blessed the children of Rahashi Lev, praised the work of the Rahashi Lev organization and received a loving hug from a child being treated in the oncology department. To Leo Shlita, who wrote the last letter in the Torah book and blessed it for the healing of all the people of Israel, Rabbi Meir Abu Hachira Shlita from Ashdod who gave his blessing to the sick children and gave them a book of Psalms as a blessing. Honored to write a letter in the historical Torah book, Prof. Amos Toran, Director of the Hemato-Oncology Unit at Sheba, Bnei Brak Mayor Avraham Rubinstein, Prof. Zohar Dotan, Head of the Urology Branch, Rabbi Yoav Oknin, Chief Rabbi of the Sheba Medical Center, Prof. Alon Friedlander, Director of the Unit Orthopedia, Mr. Yoel Har-Evan, head of the Sheba International Division, and Mr. Reuven Pinsky, CEO of the National-Civil Service Authority.

In the days before the introduction of the Torah book, the book traveled between personalities and rabbis, who were honored to write the letters in it. The Mayor of Jerusalem Mr. Moshe Leon, the Sephardic Chief Rabbi Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef Shalita, the Commander of the Jerusalem District Chief Doron Turgeman and other senior officers from the Israel Police, the Rabbi of the Western Wall Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, Rabbi Yekutiel Perkash and the businessman Yitzhak Tshuva.

Rabbi Lau told those present of his gratitude to Beit Rechashi Lev, who hosted his family during his wife’s long hospitalization in the hospital.

Shimi Gescheid, CEO of the Rechashi Lev organization, said: “I wish and wish that the Torah book that was written for children’s medicine will only be to their credit and that everyone will get well soon and return to the routine of childhood, which is so lacking in the treatment routine in hospitals.”
