Ayoung FBC announced on the 16th that it has signed a partnership with Maison Ferrand, a global liquor company based on authentic French Cognac. According to the partnership, Ayoung FBC will exclusively import Ferrand Cognac, Plantation Rum, Ferrand Dry Curacao, and Citadelle Gin to Korea.

In the case of Ayoung FBC, the plan is to expand the existing wine-based business portfolio to other types of stocks based on this partnership. Specifically, the plan is to strengthen the bar and lounge market.

Maison Ferrand started out as a cognac specialty house. It was founded in 1989 by Alexandre Gabriel. It is said that it was founded with the ambition of preserving the traditional production method of cognac. The predecessor of Maison Ferrand was Pierre Ferrand Cognac, and its roots can be traced back to a family-run business that had been brewing and distilling for 10 generations over the 4th century. It is said that Gabriel, the founder of Maison Ferrand, founded Maison Ferrand by acquiring shares out of concern that the last generation of the Pierre Ferrand family would not marry and the family business would die out. In Korea, Kooksoondang imports the original liquid from Maison Ferrand and sells it as Gabriel XO cognac. The military-supplied Gabriel XO is evaluated as a cognac that can be enjoyed with a taste comparable to Maison Ferrand Landy XO for around 30,000 won.

The alphabets in the name of a Cognac product indicate the aging period. It varies by brand, but VO (Very Old) generally refers to Cognac aged for more than two and a half years. VSOP (Very Superior Old Pale) is aged for more than four and a half years, and XO (or Napoleon, eXtra Old) is aged for more than six and a half years.

Maison Ferrand started out as a cognac specialist, but now has a diverse portfolio including rum and gin. The rum brand Plantation was created by founder and master distiller Alexander Gabriel. It is said to be the most preferred rum brand by bartenders at the ‘World’s 50 Best Bars’. It has won numerous awards in the aged rum category at various global liquor evaluations. The bottle design is also eye-catching. An exotic bottle package design was applied, and raffia, a material symbolizing the Caribbean, was added to all products. Ayoung FBC is selling a total of seven rum product lineups in Korea: Grand Reserve, Three Star, Isle of Fiji, XO 20th Anniversary, Original Dark, OFTD, and Pineapple. Prices range from 40,000 won to 100,000 won.

The main product of Cognac is Ferrand Cognac 1840, which will be introduced domestically. Ayoung FBC introduced it as an original Cognac in the traditional style of the 19th century, which is called the golden age of Cognac. It is a Cognac that is known to have been developed by world-renowned cocktail expert David Wondrich. It is characterized by a taste that combines ripe grape flavors, spices, and honey flavors, and with an alcohol content of 45%, you can expect a rich flavor and a strong impact.

Ferrand Dry Curaçao is an orange liqueur with an unfamiliar name. It is made from various grape varieties for Cognac, Ugni Blanc, brandy, and wine distillation. It is said to be a liqueur mainly used for mixing with high-alcohol drinks like cocktails. The price is set at 100,000 won for Cognac and 50,000 won for Ferrand Dry Curaçao.

Citadel Gin is a brand that was selected as the trendiest gin in the World’s Best Bar 50. It is produced using high-quality organic French wheat. It is a French-style gin made using 19 botanical plant materials through a patented technique, and is priced in the 40,000 won range.

An official from Ayoung FBC said, “Recently, domestic bars have been frequently listed on the World’s 50 Best Bars list, establishing themselves as a trend in the global liquor market,” and added, “In line with this trend, we decided to collaborate with Maison Ferrand to satisfy diverse consumer demands.”

Maison Ferrand brand products exclusively imported by Ayoung FBC are sold at large marts, convenience stores, and Winenara stores.
