An agreement on cooperation was signed between the government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the government of the Russian Federation for the development of transit cargo transportation along the North-South international transport corridor.
As Day.Az reported on Saturday with reference to the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan, as part of the visit to Russia, a meeting was held with the participation of Minister Rashad Nabiyev, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Vitaly Savelyev and Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Roman Starovoit.
During the meeting, issues of development of the international transport corridor “North-South” were discussed. As a result of the discussions, an agreement was signed aimed at cooperation in the development of transit cargo transportation, including railway infrastructure, within this corridor.
The purpose of the agreement is to improve transport links and increase the potential of the western route of the International North-South Transport Corridor. It will contribute to the growth of cargo transportation by rail and will ensure a balance between infrastructure development and the growth rate of transportation, the department said in a statement.
