In order to ensure convenient entry into the country for those registered to participate in the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), a system for applications for the “COP29 Special Visa” has been created in Azerbaijan.
As reported by Day.Az on Friday, information about this was posted on the official COP29 website.
The “COP29 Special Visa” will be a single entry visa. If a participant wishes to leave the country and return to Azerbaijan during COP29, they will have to reapply for a “COP29 Special Visa” using their UNFCCC registration number and repeat the process they went through previously.
It is noted that the validity of passports of all foreign participants visiting the territory of Azerbaijan to participate in COP29 and pre-session meetings must be at least six months after the date of entry into the country.
In addition, once participants’ registration has been confirmed through the UNFCCC online registration system, they will be sent a visa application link via email confirming their registration with UNFCCC.
“The ‘Special COP29 Visa’ will indicate the visa issuance date and will be valid until November 30, 2024. Visa holders must enter Azerbaijan before this date,” the information says.
To do this, participants must complete the form by logging into the visa portal via the link, upload the required documents and submit them for approval.
“After verification, participants will be sent a visa confirmation link via email to download the “COP29 Special Visa” from the website. Participants are advised to apply for the “special visa” immediately after confirming their UNFCCC registration. To track the status of the visa, please use the visa portal link in the UNFCCC registration confirmation email,” the information emphasizes.
