The governments of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan intend to sign an agreement on strategic partnership in the field of development and transmission of “green” energy.

As reported by Day.Az on Friday, the corresponding document of the agreement was submitted for public discussion by the government of Kazakhstan on the portal “Open NPA”.

Thus, in accordance with the agreement, the parties intend to strengthen cooperation in the energy sector, including clean and renewable energy sources and energy efficiency, with an emphasis on environmentally friendly energy sources.

By this agreement, the countries plan to cooperate in the field of transmission and supply of electricity generated from renewable energy sources, identify projects for the production, transportation and trade of green hydrogen and green ammonia, determine technical and commercial conditions, administrative rules and other organizational requirements to ensure safe, reliable and uninterrupted transmission of electricity.

In addition, emphasizing the importance of green and clean energy in global efforts to combat climate change, the two sides intend to encourage mutual cooperation in the fields of renewable energy, energy efficiency, green hydrogen and green ammonia to enhance energy system security and supply stability.

According to the document, the parties will jointly cooperate in the field of transmission and supply of electricity produced from environmentally friendly energy sources of the parties to Europe and other regions, support cooperation in the field of application of new technologies and development of services to improve energy efficiency and energy conservation, and identify opportunities for activities in the field of production, transportation and trade of environmentally friendly energy sources.

At the same time, the parties will support the expansion of existing domestic infrastructure, as well as the development of new communication lines between the countries to expand trade and electricity transmission.

In addition, the parties express interest in working together to study technical and financial issues related to connecting to the Black Sea underwater power transmission line, and will also study the possibility of using their existing infrastructure or creating a new one for the transit of environmentally friendly hydrogen and environmentally friendly ammonia.

To implement the agreement, the parties will create a Steering Committee.

The Steering Committee will make its decisions by mutual agreement.

The Agreement is concluded for an indefinite period and shall enter into force on the thirtieth day after the date on which the Depositary informs the other parties of the completion by all parties of the internal procedures necessary for the entry into force of the Agreement.
