Azerbaijan will become an example for other oil and gas countries.
As Day.Az reported on Monday with reference to Trend, this was stated by the appointed president of COP29 Mukhtar Babayev in his speech during the first press conference of the COP29 chairmanship.
According to him, there are questions regarding how Azerbaijan, being an oil and gas country, will pursue the climate agenda.
“A new opportunity will appear in connection with the green growth projects being implemented and carried out by Azerbaijan,” M. Babayev emphasized.
It should be noted that on April 15, the first press conference was held at the COP29 General Staff in connection with the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, which will be held in November 2024 in Azerbaijan. Speakers at the event were COP29 President Mukhtar Babayev, COP29 Chief Negotiator Yalchin Rafiev, COP29 General Director Elnur Soltanov, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of the COP29 operating company Narmin Dzharchalova, UN High-Level Climate Leader Nigar Arpadarai, COP29 Youth Climate Advocate Azerbaijan Leyla Hasanova.
