The soloist of the Azerbaijan State Academic Musical Theater Rauf Babayev will take part in the XIII International Operetta and Musical Festival DosStar, which will be held on September 21 and 22 in Karaganda (Kazakhstan), the theater’s press service told Day.Az.
On the stage of the Karaganda Academic Musical Comedy Theater, Rauf Babayev will play the role of Tony Bonneville (an Austrian from Vienna who is in love with a circus dancer, Englishwoman Mabel Gibson) in the operetta by the famous Hungarian composer Imre Kalman “The Circus Princess”, and will also perform at the gala concert of the international event. The honorary guest of the festival will be the director of the Azerbaijan State Academic Musical Theater, Honored Artist Aligismet Lalayev. Let us recall that last year, the soloists of the theater Aidan Gasanova and Emin Zeynalli also worthily represented our country at this festival.
“The Circus Princess” is the pinnacle of Kalman’s work. The festivity and elegance of the operetta cannot leave anyone indifferent. The intricacy of the plot, intrigue, the fairy-tale atmosphere of the circus, the magnificent music of Imre Kalman and, of course, true love that overcomes all difficulties. According to the work, everyone in the city is eager to go to the circus to see the death number of the famous Mr. X. The mysterious Mr. X, a circus artist who risks his life every day, or the brilliant aristocrat – an intriguer.
