Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora Fuad Muradov received the head of the Azerbaijani Center for Arts and Culture “Veten”, operating in the city of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and the executive director of the “House of Azerbaijan” in Canada, Lalin Hasanova.
As Day.Az was told in the State Committee of Azerbaijan for Work with Diaspora, the chairman of the committee highly appreciated the close integration of our compatriots into local society, their activity in promoting Azerbaijani realities, introducing us to our rich cultural heritage and culture. It was emphasized that the diaspora occupies a special place in the development of relations between the two countries.
Lalin Hasanova expressed deep gratitude to the Azerbaijani state for the high assessment of her activities. She noted that the “House of Azerbaijan” plays a big role in ensuring that our compatriots living in Canada come together and act in the name of national interests. At the “My Azerbaijan” weekend school, operating at the House, along with the Azerbaijani language, the history of Azerbaijan, dramatic art, drawing, dancing, music and choral art, astronomy, and chess are taught. She also noted that for the first time a summer camp for children was organized at the My Azerbaijan Weekend School.
Lalin Hasanova was awarded the anniversary medal “Heydar Aliyev’s 100th anniversary (1923-2023)”, which she was awarded by order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev for her services in diaspora activities.
It should be noted that various events are held in the “House of Azerbaijan”, which officially opened on April 3, 2023 in the city of Toronto in the Canadian province of Ontario. Dozens of Canadian officials became guests of the “House of Azerbaijan” and received detailed information about the ancient history of our people, rich cultural heritage and ongoing projects. Among the officials who visited the House are such well-known and influential persons as Member of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Canada Ali Cyrus Ehsassi, Willowdale City Councilor Lily Cheng, Ontario Assemblyman Stan Cho, Assistant Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport of the Province of Ontario Parliament of Canada Sheref Sabawi, member of the Liberal Party of Ontario Andrea Hazell, member of the Parliament of Canada Francesco Sorbara.
