Former Indian cricket team captain Mohammad Azharuddin, who enthralled his fans with his magical batting performances through the magical movements of his hands, turned 60 today. Born on February 8, 1963 in Hyderabad.

Azhar made a royal debut in international cricket by scoring centuries in the first three Tests. Scored 6215 runs from 99 Tests and 9378 runs from 334 ODIs. He has 22 centuries in Tests and seven in ODIs. His highest Test score was 199 and 153 in ODIs.

Azhar took over the Indian captaincy from Krishnamachari Srikanth in 1989. Led India in 47 Tests and 174 ODIs. Recorded 90 ODI wins for India. M.S. Dhoni surpassed the latter. He also won 14 Tests as captain.

After retiring from playing, Azhar joined politics and was elected as MP. He became the president of Hyderabad Cricket Association in 2019.
