Lahore: Teammate Imam-ul-Haq said that he wants Pakistan captain Babar Azam to score 3000-4000 runs in all formats than former Indian skipper Virat Kohli. Twenty-seven-year-old Babar has already scored close to 10,000 runs in international cricket. At the same time, Imam said that there is no point in comparing Babur with Kohli now.
There is no doubt that Virat Kohli is a legend. A player who played 80 matches should not be compared with a player who played more than 240 matches. Babar is a step above Kohli in the current scenario. My wish as a friend is that Babar should break Kohli’s many records. But now the comparisons with Kohli do not catch Babar. I want Babar to score 3000 or 4000 more runs than Kohli in all formats at the end of his career,’ said Imam-ul-Haq.
Babar Azam has already scored 9979 runs with 24 centuries and 66 fifties in 40 Tests, 89 ODIs and 74 T20 Internationals. Babar scored 2851 runs in Tests, 4442 runs in ODIs and 2686 runs in T20 Internationals.
