Nine-Month-Old Found Dead in Clandestine Nursery
A daycare owner in Estación Central, Chile, reported that she left a nine-month-old baby sleeping face down and went to check on him 90 minutes later, only to find him dead.
The clandestine nursery, located at 5 de Abril Avenue, housed 10 minors under the care of a 42-year-old Chilean woman.
The owner claimed she had been caring for the deceased baby at home since May. She stated that at 12:00 noon, she left the baby sleeping face down, and when she returned an hour and a half later, he was unresponsive.
Emergency services were called, and the child was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of death was determined to be asphyxiation.
The boy’s grandmother, Rosa Gomera, criticized the caregiver, stating that she was paid to care for the children and should not have taken on more than five. She vowed to hold the woman accountable for her actions.
The other children in the clandestine nursery were transferred to their parents.
