The short nightgown, or by its common name, baby doll, emerged into the world in 1942 by the American designer Sylvia Fedlar. The short nightgowns were designed to provide an answer to night sleep at a time when there was a shortage of fabrics. In 1956, the movie “Baby Doll” starring the actress Carol Baker was released and from here the baby doll trend began to flourish. The top and bottom of the night pajamas were extremely short and loose around the waist. In the 90’s the baby doll even got out of bed and started to star also with the rock stars who chose to wear the short dresses, or the short pants and shirt set on stage, when the competition provided a rockish and modern look.
