After the death of three young people during the violence that shook Keïtayah last weekend, the authorities are starting to move. Three agents of the BAC, Anti-Crime Brigade No. 12, have just been arrested.

The Keïtayah neighborhood was in turmoil on Friday evening and part of Saturday. A patrol by Anti-Crime Brigade No. 12 in an area (temple) where young people meet to smoke drugs turned into a tragedy. This unit, after an altercation, allegedly fired warning shots. A young man, hit in the chest, succumbed to his injuries. His death shocked the young people of the neighborhood. They took over the streets, barricaded the alleys to express their anger. They confronted the police all day Friday and a good part of Saturday.

The famous Georges crossroads was unrecognizable. These clashes resulted in two new deaths. Two other young people shot dead during the scuffles. These cases of deaths caused a huge outcry in the city. Faced with criticism, the authorities are taking matters into their own hands. The High Command of the gendarmerie would have ordered the arrest of the perpetrators of these murders. Three agents are said to be at PM3 for “assault leading to death.” Information notified to the family of one of the victims, Jean Luc Dramou.

For the moment, the Dubréka public prosecutor’s office remains on the sidelines, waiting for complaints from the families of the deceased so that the judicial machine can get underway.

Hopefully these investigations will not be like when other young people were killed during demonstrations in the past.
