According to the provisions of Article 7 of Decree 144/2021 of the Government, the act of reporting information belongs to the group of acts that violate public order regulations.

Specifically, according to Point c, Clause 3, Article 7 of this Decree, people who report false or untrue information to competent agencies and organizations will be fined 2-3 million VND.

In addition, people who report fake or untrue news may also have to pay compensation if the authorities have sufficient grounds to determine the damage caused by this behavior. In case of reporting false information to commit or conceal another criminal act, corresponding criminal penalties will be imposed.
