Bachelet: Assange extradition harms press freedom – UK

LONDON – Outgoing UN human rights chief Michelle Bachelet has warned that if Wikileaks founder Julian Assange were extradited to the United States, it could have a negative impact on press freedom around the world. “The potential extradition and prosecution of Mr Assange raises concerns about media freedom and a possible crippling effect on investigative journalism and whistleblowing activities,” Bachelet said in Geneva on Saturday.
