Bach’s music can help you deepen your fasting

by time news

“I hope that the organ concert and Bach’s music will help you deepen your preparation for fasting,” Csaba Alföldi, the cantor of the Lutheran Church in Békéscsaba, told our newspaper on Saturday night, minutes before their concert.

As part of the national program series of the Bach for All People Festival, together with his student Rebeka Feigl, they performed in the Reformed Old Church in Vásárhely. At the organ concert, music lovers could hear a selection from Bach’s Lenten chorales.

– Among Back’s countless works, it is sometimes worth picking out the less frequently heard ones – said Csaba Alföldi, who feels it is an important task to popularize the music of the Baroque-era German composer and organist.

At the weekend organ concert in Vásárhely, his student, Rebeka Feigl, was his partner in this. The young autistic girl, former winner of the Esély Prize, tried out the Catholic church organ of her hometown in 2017, and from then on, she was committed to it for life. As he said although the organ is not a particularly popular instrument, it is not easy to play, but its beautiful sound enchants everyone. He too, so much so that after graduating from the Lutheran high school, he continues his journey in music.
