Until September 10, they will be on duty on Fridays, Saturdays and before public holidays from 7:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. The three teams from the AWA* association will be present both on the Danube Canal and on Karlsplatz and will also operate flexibly with a mobile team at various locations. Their task is to sensitize the population, to inform and to have a de-escalating effect in order to ensure a harmonious and considerate use of public space.

Especially in Vienna as a metropolis of millions, it is important to promote understanding and prudent action in the interests of all Viennese. We do this with the help of the awareness teams, who stand by and mediate during the night hours until the beginning of September in the event of conflicts and attacks.”
The awareness teams focus in particular on support in the event of excessive consumption, noise complaints, psychological support after (sexualised) violence and intervention in conflict situations. The teams can be reached on + 43 677/641 00 205 to provide quick and uncomplicated support to people with concerns.

Traveling in Vienna for the third summer already
Since summer 2021, the teams in Vienna have been working in public spaces and have done valuable work. In the previous year alone, around 18,000 consultations were held in public spaces.
The association AWA* is again taking on the implementation of the project this year with a lot of experience and is on the road with three teams with different backgrounds and training, for example from the areas of awareness work, youth, social and educational work or security. (APA)
