Back to school: Three questions for the director of AREF in Dakhla-Oued Eddahab

Dakhla – The director of the Regional Academy of Education and Training (AREF) of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab, Mohamed Faouzi, takes stock in an interview with MAP, on the statistical data relating to the start of the 2024-2025 school year at the regional level, as well as the preparations and measures adopted for this purpose for a successful school year.

1-What statistical data on the 2024-2025 school year in the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region? Indeed, nearly 43,000 students will join, from September 9, the school benches in the primary, secondary college and qualifying secondary cycles on the occasion of the current school year, including 6,800 students from preschool education. Regarding human resources management, some 539 administrative and pedagogical executives are mobilized, while the active teaching staff at the regional level has reached 1,222 teachers. For this school year, 125 new executives, including 109 from the teaching staff, will strengthen the education system by bringing new dynamics to it and contributing to the achievement of the objectives of the 2022-2026 Roadmap for a quality public school. 2- What measures have been put in place at the regional level to ensure a successful 2024-2025 school year? In order to ensure a successful school year, a series of measures have been put in place for this purpose, including the generalization of the “Pioneering Schools” project at the primary education level and the launch of a pilot phase in four secondary college establishments. To ensure the success of the “Pioneering Schools” project, all primary school establishments in the region have been equipped and provided with new teaching methods, in addition to the organization of a series of training sessions for the benefit of the teaching and administrative staff responsible for the operationalization of this project. 3- What about the second chance school project? Tireless efforts have been made in this direction by the AREF of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab and its partners, including the implementation of the “Oued Eddahab Convention” on the obligation of elementary education and the fight against school dropout, and the organization of the operation “From child to child” aimed at strengthening mobilization to guarantee the right to education and fight against school dropout, as well as other initiatives put in place to identify the number of students who have abandoned their schools at the regional level. Currently, we are ensuring that all means are implemented to accommodate this category of students in “good conditions”, in order to offer them a second chance and ensure their reintegration into society.
