“Not including service” was one of the first popular youth series in Israel that aired between 1990-1993 and during its three seasons featured major youth stars, members of the band “Tzeiri Tel Aviv”, such as Sa’ar Finn, Dana Devorin, Tal Mosari, Eleanor Aharon, Shir Gottlieb, Nir Geva, Tal Seibert, Ohad Hitman and many more, most of them are still in the entertainment industry (whether in front or out of the spotlight) and got their first break thanks to the series.

The series, written by Nirit Yaron and directed by Yitzhak Shaoli (director Uri Paster prepared the actors for the series) and under the musical direction of Ilan Gilboa, took place in a cafe where the youth work and hang out, and dealt with issues that preoccupy the youth such as violence, drugs, love, studies and military recruitment, accompanied by a soundtrack An investment that included Hebrew cover versions of well-known foreign songs from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s alongside original songs mostly written by Nirit Yaron and Dovi Lentz, including “Summer”, “Shoshana”, “Khemo Tefila”, “I’m Going Crazy” , “Come to the Party” and “Drugs”.

At the peak of popularity, the stars of the series went on a successful tour and none of the performances, at “Cinerama” in Tel Aviv, were recorded and became a cult.

In this episode of “Words and Melody” Dodi Fatimer devoted the podcast to the best hits of the series, which were released on a rare tape/record/disc, to the story behind the series and what its stars are doing today.

The thanks for obtaining the rare recordings embedded in the podcast go to Maor Gofer, Nili Ben Gal and Roi Aviv.
