Bayern doesn’t need a “Liverpool gene” to secure a successful future. That’s total nonsense. The idea of signing players like Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold may sound tempting at first glance, but on closer inspection it is neither necessary nor forward-looking. Salah may still be in good shape at 32, but his best days are behind him – just like van Dijk, who is a year older and is no longer the dominant defender he was in years past. Both are nearing the end of their careers, and Bayern should not rely on older players, but on talents with future prospects.
Trent Alexander-Arnold may be younger at 25, but even he did not play consistently at a world-class level last season, partly due to injuries.
Of course, Bayern would save on transfer fees for these players, but the financial burden would still be enormous due to the very high salaries.
And Jürgen Klopp? The current start to the season under Vincent Kompany shows that Bayern already has a good coach who will develop the team further.
Why should Bayern rely on a questionable Liverpool model and hope for super coach Klopp when they have someone in Kompany who can build something long-term?
Bayern doesn’t need short-term solutions, but sustainable development – and with this squad and coaching team, they are already well on their way. One or two weak points still need to be eliminated, but certainly not with players from Liverpool.
