Meanwhile, another rainy day has ‘hit’ the south of Sardinia, already devastated by yesterday’s storm: civil protection men and firefighters were involved in restoring the roads closed due to flooding and landslides and to empty rooms invaded by water.

In the meantime, schools closed in Cagliari, as ordered by the mayor Paolo Truzzu for the stability checks of the buildings. The teaching activities of the University of the capital were also suspended. Libraries, study rooms and related activities were then closed and discussions regarding degrees were postponed.

“We are carrying out inspections to assess the damage and we are preparing the resolution proclaiming the state of natural disaster”, wrote the mayor of Cagliari in the morning on his Facebook profile.

Meanwhile, again this morning, due to the strong wind and rough sea, the sea connections between Piombino and the Island of Elba were suspended. Finally, heavy rain in the north of Salento with flooding and problems for vehicular traffic.
