(ANSA) – ROME, SEPTEMBER 12 – Severe bad weather will continue in Italy in the coming hours, with scattered thunderstorms, particularly in the Adriatic areas and the southern Tyrrhenian strip, and a general intensification of northerly winds. Based on available forecasts, the Civil Protection Department, in agreement with the regions involved – which are responsible for activating civil protection systems in the affected territories – has issued a warning of adverse weather conditions. The warning predicts scattered to widespread precipitation from this evening, mainly in the form of showers or thunderstorms, in Campania, Basilicata, Calabria and Sicily, particularly in the Tyrrhenian sectors of the four regions. Scattered precipitation is expected from the early hours of tomorrow, mainly in the form of showers or thunderstorms, in Marche, Abruzzo, Molise and northern Puglia, particularly along the coastal areas. The phenomena will be accompanied by heavy showers, frequent electrical activity, localized hailstorms and strong gusts of wind. Based on the phenomena forecast and currently underway, a yellow alert has been assessed for tomorrow, Friday 13 September, for weather-hydro risk in the Autonomous Province of Trento, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Umbria, Abruzzo, Molise, Campania, Puglia, Basilicata, Calabria and in areas of Emilia-Romagna, Marche, Lazio and Sicily. The warning also foresees north-westerly gale-force winds on Sardinia from this evening, subsequently extending to Campania, Basilicata, Calabria and Sicily, with storm surges on exposed coasts. From the early hours of tomorrow, Friday 13 September, strong to gale-force winds are expected from the northern quadrants on Liguria, Piedmont, Lombardy and Trentino-Alto Adige, with gusts of foehn in the valleys, as well as on the Adriatic areas of Emilia-Romagna, Marche, Abruzzo, Molise and Puglia, with storm surges on exposed coasts.
