Badge of Honor of the State of Tyrol: Physician Elisabeth Medicus awarded

by time news

Thaurerin Elisabeth Medicus was recently awarded the Tyrolean Decoration of Honour. The doctor worked for the Tyrolean hospice community for 20 years and, as medical director, played a key role in shaping the development of this movement.

INNSBRUCK/THAUR. The Tyrolean governor Günther Platter and South Tyrol’s deputy LH Deeg have awarded twelve personalities with the decoration of the state of Tyrol, including Elisabeth Medicus, Lilli Gruber, Reinhold Messner and Joseph Zoderer.

“Especially in the current time, which is still marked by the troubles of the pandemic, this commitment is a very powerful sign from and for Tyrol. Without the commitment of these personalities, our country would be in a very different position – not as future-oriented, not as efficient, not as rich and not as creative. Whether they were active in business, science, medicine, journalism, culture, in the social or church sector – they all made decisive progress in Tyrol,” said Governor Platter.

Award for 12 personalities

Also honored were Josef Aschbacher, Director General of the European Space Agency, Hans Bodner, Managing Director of Bodner Bau, Hermann Glettler, Bishop of the Innsbruck Diocese, Franz Hitzl, Spokesman for the Traditionsforum Tirol, Paula Kofler, co-initiator of the Social District Upper Court, and Evelyn Mages, Managing Director of the Service Agency Basis Ausserfern, Elisabeth Medicus, former medical director of the Tyrolean hospice community, Georg Schärmer, former director of Caritas Tyrol, and the architect Marta Schreieck.
