Ahead of the Denmark Open… leave tomorrow
‘Badminton Empress’ Ahn Se-young (Samsung Life Insurance) did not appear in the finals of the National Sports Festival.
Busan (Samsung Life Insurance) won the championship with a 3-0 win in the final of the women’s badminton team event at the 105th National Sports Festival against Gyeongbuk (Gimcheon City Hall) held at Miryang Badminton Stadium in Gyeongnam on the 12th.
On this day, Ahn Se-young did not play in the game. In the preliminaries, quarterfinals, and semifinals held earlier, he showed off his overwhelming performance and did not give up a single set, winning all of them.
After winning the gold medal in the badminton women’s singles at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Ahn Se-young became the center of attention by pouring out thoughtful remarks about the national team’s injury management and training management methods in an interview with reporters.
Afterwards, Ahn Se-young focused on rest and rehabilitation while failing to participate in international competitions.
Ahn Se-young, who returned after two months at the National Sports Festival, played three games, but her knee injury has not completely recovered. He also participated in this competition with his right knee taped.
Samsung Life Insurance did not send Ahn Se-young to the finals for player management reasons.
Samsung Life Insurance coach Gil Young-ah said in a phone call with Newsis on the 12th, “Ahn Se-young moved to his team’s training center after the semifinals. The condition of my knee is not perfect. “I did not want my condition to worsen ahead of the Denmark competition, so I had to miss the finals, and I had a medical check this morning,” he said. “I will participate in the Denmark competition as scheduled.”
Ahn Se-young will leave Korea on the 13th to participate in the Denmark Open, which will be held from the 15th. The Denmark Open is Ahn Se-young’s first international competition since the Olympics.
