On May 3, the government-funded movie ‘Shyama Kavya’ was released in three Cineplexes. In between, the movie was being screened at Bashundhara City and Sony Square branches of Star Cineplex. Director Badrul Anam Soud decided to stop the screening of ‘Shyama Kavya’ movie from Star Cineplex on the third day of its release.
On Sunday (May 5) in the morning, producer Soud announced the closure of the movie on social media. Later, the information about the screening of the movie ‘Shyama Kavya’ was deleted from the Cineplex website.
Badrul Anam Saud said in his Facebook status that the audience could not watch the movie well on the first day due to screen problems. Due to this it was decided to cancel a house full show on the first day. However, the problem was solved by changing the hall the next day. The second reason is that the next day it was seen that a mid-break was being given in the middle of a scene without finishing it. Starting from that scene after the break.
The producer raised questions about the latest ticket sales. However, he did not want to comment on this matter now. But expressed his objection about the exhibition time. He said that despite the request, the screening of the movie ‘Shyama Kavya’ was kept in the morning show when the audience was less. So it has been decided to remove ‘Shyama Kavya’ from Star Cineplex.
In the comments section of this status, Saud wrote, ‘I did not upload the account discrepancy and do not want it.’ In another comment, he wrote, ‘Maybe no one has ever taken a movie from a Cineplex before. I took it.’
Mesbah Uddin Ahmed, senior manager of media and marketing department of Star Cineplex said, “On the first day they reported the problem with the projection of the hall. The next day the hall was changed. Apart from this, they did not give us any official complaint, but today (yesterday) the distributor company sent an official mail asking to stop the screening of the movie, so we stopped it. Running ‘Kajal Rekha’ in that slot.”
Even though Star Cineplex decided to stop the screening of the movie yesterday, there were complaints from the first day. After the hall visit, the makers and crew of the movie raised objections about the show at Bashundhara branch of Star Cineplex.
‘Shyama Kavya’ is made with psychological stories. Sohail Mondal, Nilanjana Neela, Intekhab Dinar, Naureen Hasan Khan Jenny, AK Azad Setu etc. acted in various roles in the movie.
