Tourists visiting Mudumalai are having a great time taking photos with the famous Bagan couple, who were commended by Prime Minister Modi. The documentary film, The Elephant Whisperers, tells the story of Raghu and Bommi, two baby elephants at the Theppakadu breeding camp in the Muthumalai Tiger Reserve. The film won an Oscar, making Bomman, Belli, Raghu, and Bommi household names.

Recently, PM Modi visited the Muthumalai Theppakadu elephant breeding camp where he met and congratulated Bomman-Pelli, the famous couple from the documentary. He also enjoyed interacting with the domesticated elephants and giving them canes.

Due to their new-found fame, Mudumalai’s baby elephants and the Bagan couple have become tourist attractions. Visitors come during the Glugulu season to escape the summer heat, and they often visit the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve to see the baby elephants. The Pagan couple is also busy meeting and taking selfies with tourists, and they have received recognition from various organizations.
