Previously, Bagatski became the head coach of the Ukrainian national team in May 2019 and led the national team to the finals of the 2022 European Championship, in which the Ukrainians ranked 11th.
On the other hand, after the end of the 2023 World Cup qualification, the Ukrainian Basketball Federation did not extend the agreement with the Latvian specialist after the Ukrainians did not enter the final tournament.
After leaving the Ukrainian national team, Bagatski managed the Romanian team “Voluntari”, which reached the final of the European Northern Basketball League (ENBL) last season.
While working for the Ukrainian national team, he previously managed the “Kyiv” team for three seasons, which he helped to reach the playoffs of the FIBA European Cup twice, as well as once to win silver and bronze in the Ukrainian Super League.
Before that, Bagatskis led the Latvian men’s basketball team from 2010 to 2017, and also worked in clubs in Latvia, Georgia, Turkey, Israel, Germany and Romania.
