Today, Friday, Baghdad Governor Abdul Muttalib Al-Alawi opened the library and museum of the poet Nazik Al-Malaika in the Baghdad Cultural Center.
A statement by the governorate received by the (INA) stated that “Baghdad Governor Abdul Muttalib Al-Alawi opened the library and museum of the pioneer of free Arabic poetry, Nazik Al-Malaika, and her husband, Abdul Hadi Mahbouba, the first president of Basra University, in the Baghdad Cultural Center.”
The governor stressed – according to the statement – that “the poet Nazik Al-Malaika is well-known in the Arab world and internationally, as Arabs celebrated her and she received several awards in the field of her creativity and specialization, and the opening of the library that includes her productions and possessions comes as a commemoration and recognition of what she has provided.”
Al-Alawi called on all families of Baghdad’s literary, cultural, social and academic figures to “bring their belongings and everything related to them to be preserved in the Baghdad Cultural Center and safe places for the public to see and also to shed light on other unknown aspects of their lives.”
