“Today I can only say thank you”, this has been the message that Pecco Bagnaia has posted at mid-afternoon on Sunday, still inside the General Hospital of Catalonia; the Ducati Lenovo Team rider has successfully passed the TAC he underwent at the aforementioned hospital to rule out the presence of fractures after his serious and overwhelming accident on Sunday in Montmeló.

The current MotoGP champion and still leader of the championship came out of the ears violently before reaching the second curve of the Catalan tracka flight that ended in a hard landing on the asphalt and a run over by Brad Binder, who fortunately ran over Bagnaia’s legs without causing major injuries.

After being examined at the circuit’s Medical Center, Doctor Ángel Charte ordered the transfer of the Ducati pilot to the Hospital General de Catalunya to undergo a more exhaustive TAC there. in order to determine if bib number #1 had suffered a minor fracture.

Finally, as reported by the Ducati Lenovo Team itself in a press release, its pilot is fine and will be able to fly back home tonight: “Pecco Bagnaia has suffered multiple bruises, but subsequent medical checks have revealed that there are no fractures. The reigning World Champion will fly to Italy with the team tonight.”they mention in the statement.

Despite adding a zero this Sunday, Bagnaia still leads the general classification of the championship with a comfortable advantage of 50 points over Jorge Martín, today third behind the Aprilia duo. With the San Marino Grand Prix just around the corner -it will start this coming Friday, September 8-, nothing seems to prevent Pecco from getting back on his motorcycle on the Misano track, possibly the best-known circuit of all. the calendar by regularly training there with his Panigale V4 S together with the rest of the VR46 Academy pilots.

The fortune that Bagnaia has had cannot be extended to his teammate, Aeneas Bastianini, which has caused a multiple crash in the first corner that has also affected Johann Zarco, Álex Márquez, Fabio Di Giannantonio and Marco Bezzecchi. The only victim of this incident has been Enea himself, forced to also visit the General Hospital of Catalonia suffering from two possible fractures that have finally been confirmed after a new medical examination.

This was communicated by Ducati just a few minutes ago: “Bastianini suffered a nondisplaced fracture of the medial malleolus of his left ankle and a subcapital fracture of the second metacarpal of his left hand. Both hand and ankle have been immobilized in cast so that he can travel to Italy tonight. Bastianini will have to undergo surgery on his ankle and, to speed up his recovery, he will also undergo surgery on his hand in the coming days“.

The more than possible absence of Bastianini at Misano will be a headache for Ducati; Michelle Pirro already planned to participate in the San Marino Grand Prix as a wildcardand the circumstance occurs that the Superbike World Championship will coincide next weekend with MotoGP in France, so none of its pilots -for example Danilo Petrucci or Álvaro Bautista himself- will be able to cover Bastianini’s loss.
